Good Neighbor Alliance was started because there was a gap in the safety net in Sierra Vista assisting homeless men, women and families with children. GNA was incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit organization in September 1998. The members of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church identified this gap and organized GNA to help this undeserved population. Pastor J. David Barkley led the charge for several years and overcame many barriers and obstacles. GNA opened the doors of Samaritan Station on January 16, 2003.
Since opening, GNA has been fulfilling its mission daily proving to be a much needed community asset to those experiencing homelessness.
